After his now-famous hateful comments, the founder of Papa John’s was dismissed from the company. The brand then brought in new leadership and launched internal programs to promote diversity. 

But they needed a way to show the public that real change was being made. So, we leveraged a lifelong fan of the brand, Shaquille O’Neal, who became Papa John’s newest board member and franchisee, and helped spread our comeback message, “It’s a Better Day at Papa John’s.”

We tapped into Shaq’s massive social following to get the word out, reveal new menu items, and share funny skits starring the Diesel himself.

To build on last year’s The *right agent can lead the way* campaign, we set out to push our storytelling to the next level. But since RE/MAX was dealing with a tough market, a decline in agents, and a rise in digital competitors, we needed to show how RE/MAX agents are the heroes of every home sale.

In two long form films, we explore the myriad feelings that moving stirs up in all of us. And as each character is working through what this means, there’s a RE/MAX agent there to empathize and advocate for them. Because sometimes the home-buying and selling journey is about a whole lot more than just the buying and selling.

Energizer

To help the newly reinvented Energizer Bunny steal market share and build brand love, we took a cue from his advertising roots—interrupting well-known film genres with his characteristically cheeky ways. Only two months after launch, the new campaign generated a nearly 16% boost in Energizer’s brand appeal vs top competitors.

Culture, Interrupted

Since our MO is disrupting culture, we took to the place where it’s happening in real time. Though the Energizer Bunny has never uttered a word, we helped him find his voice—and occasionally his groove—across social media. The Bunny’s playful ribbing of memes, trends, and cultural happenings increased @EnergizerBunny mentions by 23x within six months.

Grove Collaborative

Grove Collaborative is transforming household products into a force for good. But standing in their way is a common misconception that recycling is the answer to the plastic crisis. Too bad it's just wishful thinking—because only 9% of plastic is actually recycled, no matter how much we put in the&nbsp;bin. 

To help spread the mindblowing news, we created Grove’s first-ever brand campaign, featuring their Global Brand and Sustainability Advocate, Drew Barrymore. Having made the switch to a sustainable lifestyle herself, Drew was the perfect voice to deliver a dose of reality to all the wish-cyclers out&nbsp;there.


Recycling has a dirty little secret. 

The Wish-Cycling campaign has helped more people consider their true environmental footprint and ways to improve it, leading to tons of press for the brand and an uptick in conversations about sustainability on social&nbsp;media.

For many of us, these last few years have helped make home the focal point of our lives. With this shift in priorities, we helped RE/MAX create a timely, emotionally-driven campaign reflecting the range of feelings that buying or selling a home can stir up.

Our campaign’s hero film, All Together, was inspired by data that showed demand for multi-generational homes was through the roof. As RE/MAX’s first foray into long-form storytelling, it helped our audience connect with the brand in an even deeper way.

Each story was brought to life from a uniquely personal perspective – including from the point of view of home-buyers, sellers, agents, and even front doors. And at the heart of every story, there’s a RE/MAX agent ready to lead the way home.

The team at Ugg wanted more men to give their shoes a try. But 65% of guys didn’t even know Ugg made shoes for men. And those who did, thought of Ugg as a female brand. To change their perception, we chose Ugg slippers as our Trojan horse, giving us a way to break into male closets and convince guys of the brand’s comfort appeal. To headline the campaign, we collaborated with two legends who earn their downtime: the Dude himself, and Ugg spokesman Tom Brady. Then we launched the campaign during Tom’s historic four-game NFL suspension, when he was famously sidelined on his couch.

Do Nothing in UGG

To support the launch, we integrated retail design, digital and social, and partnerships with NFL Redzone. We also created over fifty pairs of custom slippers for celebrity influencers, including Seth Rogen, Dwyane Wade, Rob Gronkowski, and others, earning thousands of free social impressions from those who posted their new kicks. After the launch, we saw a 20% rise in men’s sales and an 81% lift in conversation about the brand.

Finally, we partnered with stadiums across the NHL network to build the “Do Nothing Penalty Box,” a place where hockey players could kick back and put up their feet in the middle of a hockey game. The penalty box was mentioned continuously during broadcasts, as players entered and exited our branded Ugg experience.

Facing a decline in battery usage and struggling to stand out from the competition, the Energizer brand needed to reinvent. We started with a reboot of the company’s greatest asset, who happens to be one of the world’s most iconic mascots. Then we launched his new look across media channels where the brand had never appeared before. Within the first year, battery sales increased by 12.6%, solidifying Energizer as the top battery maker on the planet.

Bigger, better, bunnier

Even though people still loved him, the Bunny was starting to feel like a blast from the past. So we gave him a head to tail makeover for the high-def era.

Built from the paws up

To appeal to a new generation of fans, we brought the Bunny to platforms he’d never explored. We created the brand’s first global Snapchat Lens, iOS stickers, and YouTube :06 bumper ads.

prAna wanted to reach a younger audience that was indifferent to traditional advertising. They needed a Conversationworthy idea that would make a bold statement and resonate with their audience. So we created the Dream Job initiative - a search for one brave person who was willing to publicly quit their day job, in order to chase their dream profession.

Quit your job to change your life

Within a few weeks, the program earned over 50 million free impressions. The idea connected so strongly with our audience that over 2,400 video entries were submitted. On prAna social channels, fans of the winner will be able to follow her journey throughout the year.

It’s a new day at Papa John’s, and that means new products. So for the launch of the new Papadia, we created a sticker pack featuring Shaq and the Papadias to let fans show off their love. The stickers are available on iMessage, Giphy, Instagram, WhatsApp, and more.

The team at Camp + King tapped an illustrator to bring the concepts to life with a stand-out, pencil-drawn style. From those drawings, we were able to finesse everything from perfect pepper placement to the twinkle in Shaq’s eye.

The stickers have taken off. We worked with the Papa John’s app team to push the stickers out to the entire app fanbase and Shaq helped us spread the word on his social channels.

RE/MAX agents sell more homes than anyone else, but potential clients were being lured away by discount and all-digital alternatives. We needed to remind homebuyers that there’s no replacement for years of experience, especially in those moments when you need a professional agent by your side.

To help their listings stand out, we built a tool that lets RE/MAX agents create customized videos for each and every listing they represent. Agents can upload their own photos, select which features they’d like to call out, and adjust every title to perfectly fit each listing.

DISH Network

In an industry ranked last in customer satisfaction, Dish Network was looking to regain America’s trust. So we turned category convention on its ear, introducing a new kind of spokesman inspired by the company’s foundation story. We called him the “Spokeslistener.” The work helped win 2017’s J.D. Power award for exactly what was broken in the industry: customer service.

Building a TV company people don’t hate

C+K created a new section of the website devoted to listening to customers (and acting upon it), and landed partnerships with other famous listeners, like Amazon&nbsp;Alexa.

We didn’t just want to show people that DISH was listening, we wanted to prove it.

Del Taco

While Del Taco isn’t number one in market share, they do have the freshest food in the category. To tell that story, we launched a campaign starring real employees, who mix, grill and slice around the clock to serve the freshest food you can buy from a drive thru. The campaign led to a 2.7% increase in overall sales in 2018—some of the strongest sales in the industry.

The hardest working hands in fast food

To support the launch, we gave Del Taco a bold new look that nods to their fifty-four-year history, with shapes and textures inspired by their SoCal heritage and Mexican roots.

To drive the campaign, we created the hashtag #FreshAsDel to let fans know exactly what Del Taco stands for in a tone that made people actually use it. We also doubled-down on our social media programs with Instagram contests, new Snapchat filters, and in-store activations inspired by the hashtag.

Eau de French Fry is an artisan bar soap that smells just like Del Taco's world-famous fries. The bars sold out in just 11 minutes, and were listed on eBay shortly after for over $100. Eau de French Fry also got 310+ on-air TV mentions in less than a&nbsp;day.

Envirokidz

EnviroKidz is more than just an organic cereal with animals on the box—to date, they’ve donated over a million dollars to animal conservation partners through their 1% For the Planet program. So, to help demonstrate that the brand really is walking the walk, we helped EnviroKidz launch a campaign empowering kids to learn about endangered animals and to brainstorm kid-friendly ways they can help.

To launch Dish Networks new streaming service, we tapped America’s distrust of cable companies and the way they treat their customers. In under two years, our ‘Take Back TV’ campaign catapulted Sling to 50% market share.

In an unprecedented collaboration, Camp + King partnered with Gracie Films and 20th Century Fox to reimagine a classic episode of the Simpsons, integrating YouTube’s Video Ad product into the story. We helped the NBA’s Sacramento Kings launch a new brand identity with an integrated campaign that includes film, events, guerrilla, PR, out of home, and a special program that offered fans free tattoos featuring the new logo design. The news media couldn’t believe our tattoo stunt had fans lined up out the door.
